Your Expert in Musculoskeletal Toxicology

Martin Guillot

Hello, I'm Martin

I help Biotechs, Pharmas, and CROs navigate the complexity of musculoskeletal endpoints in nonclinical development.

With more than 20 years of dedicated experience in musculoskeletal research, I support clients in addressing challenges where the musculoskeletal system is either the primary therapeutic target or a critical safety concern. My expertise spans study design, endpoint selection, data interpretation, and scientific strategy across preclinical research and toxicology programs.

My scientific journey began at the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (France), where I earned my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and completed a thesis focused on anterior cruciate ligament (ACLT) surgery in dogs. I then pursued advanced academic research in musculoskeletal biology and pharmacology. During my M.Sc. in Veterinary Sciences (Toxicology), I investigated tetracycline-induced bone toxicity in pigs using bone densitometry. My Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences (Pharmacology) focused on osteoarthritis-related pain in cats, leading to some of the earliest characterizations of the condition and the evaluation of potential therapeutic approaches. Throughout this period, I also contributed to collaborative research on osteoarthritis-related pain in dogs and rodent models.

Following my academic career, I spent 11 years at Charles River Laboratories in Montreal, where I served as a Individual Scientist and Principal Investigator supporting musculoskeletal research and toxicology programs. My work involved the interpretation of data from radiology, bone densitometry, imaging, biomechanics, and bone biomarkers across a wide range of studies, including osteoporosis research and safety evaluations. During my final four years, I served as the Global Subject Matter Expert in musculoskeletal toxicology and Scientific Lead for the Musculoskeletal and Imaging Group.

I'm co-author of 40+ peer-reviewed publications and contributor to textbooks on bone pathology and musculoskeletal research.

Let's work together to accelerate your preclinical pipeline with scientific rigor and specialized expertise in musculoskeletal research.
